Stories of Houses
A growing database of Prague and Czech buildings with their historical stories - from the communist era and Nazi occupation to landmarks of culture. Currently 628 buildings catalogued.
About this project
Stories of Houses (originally Příběhy domů) is a Czech project mapping the histories of buildings and places that have shaped Czech 20th-century society - from the communist regime through Nazi occupation, to cultural landmarks of cinema, literature, and music.
Most of the building records are written in Czech, including primary historical sources and street names. The map and search tools work for both Czech and English speakers - building names are proper nouns and addresses are universally readable.
